Hangzhou History Museum (also called as Hangzhou Cultural Relics and Archaeology Institute) is one of the major cultural organization in Hangzhou city.

As a comprehensive museum it reflects the history of the city, with building area of 7,000 square meters, and a total of 8 exhibition halls and 2 short-term exhibition halls. Exhibitions cover the basic display exhibition and display of themes with reasonable layout of relics on display and artifacts on recover, and features complement each other with static display and dynamic model showing. It is the window of Hangzhou city to the citizen and visitors to understand the sentiment brilliant history, but also provincial patriotism education base.

The Cultural Relics and Archaeology Institute takes on the task of field archaeology at Hangzhou and nearby county with footprints all over every corner. Completing with hundreds of rescue of the capital city of archaeological excavations, clearing a large number of ancient cultural artifacts sites, unearthing tens of thousands of cultural relics, many of them national treasures treasures in the domestic and foreign counterparts it won a high reputation.
